Right to Education Campaign – Summer Camps 2025
As part of the 2025 Right to Education Campaign, a series of summer camps were implemented in Palestinian communities facing escalating settler attack, movement restrictions, and ongoing threats of displacement. These camps were not merely recreational initiatives; they were structured educational and psychosocial interventions designed to protect children’s right to safe learning spaces and holistic development.
During the summer of 2025, two main camps were organized in Farkha village and Um Safa, reaching a total of 215 children between the ages of 6 and 12.
In Farkha, the Sun of Freedom Summer Camp hosted 150 children in a comprehensive program that combined arts and crafts, environmental awareness, music, theater, sports, life skills education, digital safety, and mindfulness activities. The camp followed a child-centered approach, encouraging creativity, teamwork, civic engagement, and leadership. Guest facilitators from different Palestinian regions enriched the experience by offering specialized workshops in writing, theater, singing, and agriculture.
In Um Safa, the Saif wa Sada Summer Camp engaged 65 children (33 girls and 32 boys) in activities focused on values-based learning, cooperation, health awareness, national education, arts, and sports. The camp also included community and institutional visits that introduced children to public service institutions and strengthened their sense of belonging and civic responsibility.
Due to the ongoing war in Gaza and increased settler attacks in several West Bank areas, adjustments were made to ensure children’s safety. Outdoor activities were adapted when necessary, and additional psychosocial support sessions were integrated to help children process stress and trauma. Despite the difficult context, the camps maintained their core objective: providing safe, joyful, and empowering environments for children.
Through these summer camps, the Right to Education Campaign extended beyond access to school materials and into the creation of protected spaces where children could learn, express themselves, build confidence, and reconnect with their communities. In a context where education is systematically targeted and restricted, these initiatives represent a practical commitment to safeguarding children’s rights and strengthening community resilience.
